What went well? What didn’t?

Your kid just went through quite a bit with a school project, marching band, soccer, or a job situation so now what do you do? You made it through…you are done…you can breathe. But should you do anything else? Yes, you should totally reflect back so they can recognize what went well and what did not go well. This is such as important step in the learning process because they are able to see how their actions had an impact on the overall situation or experience. Asking them questions that allows them to think and associate their actions to what happened is an excellent way to help develop self-efficacy.

Teresa Arnesen talks about how her daughter, Sarah, and her walked through what happened the last couple of terms at school. She asked questions around what went well, what didn’t go well, and what are we going to glean from these experiences. Check out Teresa’s comments in this episode of The Winning with ADHD Podcast along with so many other gems of knowledge!
